70 percent of the clothes you own should be meat and potatoes. 30 percent should be icing and fluff — that’s colour, pattern, shine, accessories. Too many women get the proportions the other way round, then can’t figure out why they can’t get dressed. — Michael Kors, Times Online
I need to remember this more. I need to do a major purge from my closet. I feel like I never know what I have even though I have too much. Plus, I have too much stuff that I felt like I should be for this that or the other reason, even if maybe I didn’t love it. So this is my goal by the end of the year.
So I won’t say much, cause i know most people aren’t seeing it till tomorrow, but Harry Potter was simply fantastic. I wish David Yates had ben able to do all the movies, cause these last couple have been phenomenal. I started crying about 1 minute into the movie and never really stopped. And it gave me such confidence that the second half, the REAL final chapter, is going to be given all the amazingness it deserves. I can’t wait to watch this again! I hope everyone loves it as much as I did!
This is the real genius of the Harry Potter series. Rather than create a completely new, unrecognizable fantasy world, Rowling creates a world that exists right alongside our own. The creatures and objects of ancient mythology actually exist, but they’re hidden away, tucked right beneath the surface of our reality, controlled by another society that does everything in its power to keep the magical world a secret. The Harry Potter series is not about a new world, it’s about the secret nature of our world.
Perhaps that’s why the series has caught on like it has. Remove the wand-waving and dragons and you have a story about remarkably human people going through remarkably human experiences. That’s where that absurd joy comes from.
Melissa and I were saying today about what if it could be real, any of it. This is exactly why it feels like it could be; because we can see so much of our own world in Harry’s. And absurd joy is the perfect way to describe the Harry Potter feeling.
